Remember P.A.S.S.
The four steps every trained person follows. Keep your back to an exit and stay 2 to 3 metres from the fire.
Pull
Pull the safety pin. This breaks the tamper seal.
Aim
Aim the nozzle or horn at the base of the fire, not the flames.
Squeeze
Squeeze the handle slowly and evenly.
Sweep
Sweep from side to side until the fire is out. Watch for re-ignition.

Who should attend the training?
Everyone who might be first on the scene: employees, security guards, housekeeping, maintenance staff and floor wardens. For residential buildings, residents are welcome too.
How long does the training take?
About 45 to 60 minutes: a short talk on fire types, the P.A.S.S. method, a hands-on demo with a real extinguisher, and the monthly check.
How do you use a fire extinguisher?
Remember P.A.S.S.: Pull the pin, Aim at the base of the fire, Squeeze the handle, and Sweep from side to side. Keep your back to an exit and stay 2 to 3 metres away.
